Volunteer

LinuxFest Northwest is a free, community-run festival, and it has been since 2000. Every part of it is built by volunteers: AV and streaming, speaker and guest services, the expo hall, signage, sponsorships, and more.

You don’t need to be an expert. We run on a mentorship model, so everyone is learning from someone:

  • Leads own an area of the fest and mentor an Apprentice.

  • Apprentices learn the role alongside a Lead, with the goal of taking it over in a future year.

  • Industry Advisors are experienced professionals who back up the Lead and Apprentice when questions come up.

The goal is for every role to have someone ready to take it over, so the fest keeps going and new people can bring in new ideas. Not sure where you fit? Choose Apprentice and tell us what you’re curious about.

LFNW 2027 is April 23–25 at Bellingham Technical College. Tell us your skills, interests and availability below, and a member of the team will get back to you.
